This discipline is intended to allow off-the-shelf
sporting/hunting centrefire rifles to be used in competitions.

Electronic Targets

Electronic targets provide precise feedback on shot placement, eliminate manual marking and can be shared by multiple shooters, optimising range time. 

Competition

With competitions every Saturday the club can provide a pathway to improving your marksmanship leading to competing in State championships and further.

About Bega Rifle Club

Bega Rifle Club has existed in its current location since the 1880s. The history of the club is aligned with the formation of the military defence forces within the colony of NSW (eg NSW Mounted Rifles). The Club has competed regularly for over 140 years making it one of the oldest sporting clubs in the district. Originally there were rifle clubs in all the small towns in the district but Bega is the only remaining club in the Shire.

When and where?

The Bega Rifle Range is located on Reedy Swamp Road, Tarraganda adjacent to the Bega Golf Club. Shooting is held on most Saturdays commencing at 10am and finishing at around 1pm.

Shooting Disciplines?

Target Rifle
Single shot target rifle in .308W or .223R calibre fired from the prone position using a sling and peep sights.

FClass – Standard
.308W or .223R calibre fired from the prone position using telescopic sights and using a front and rear rest for the rifle.

FClass – Open
Any calibre up to 8mm fired from the prone position using telescopic sights and using a front and rear rest for the rifle.

Sporting / Hunter Class
Standard factory-made sporting/hunting/varmint rifle of 6.5kg or less including any telescopic sight or bipod.

Rimfire Target Shooting
22 Rimfire at 100 yards fired from the prone position using telescopic sights and using a front and rear rest for the rifle.

What distances do you shoot from?

Bega Rifle Club shoots at a different range (distance) each Saturday, 100 yards is the closest range which is used for rimfire (.22) and for sighting-in centrefire rifles. Centre-fire competitions are held at the 200y, 300y, 400y, 500y, 600y and 600M distances.

Come & Try Days

The Club doesn’t have any specific “Come & Try Days”, if you are interested, contact the Club and arrangements can be made for you to attend the range and try shooting.
